Quality of Life
Woodridge continues to grow and thrive
because it offers an environment that meets a diverse range of lifestyles. No
matter what stage of life you are at - student, single professional, growing
family, empty-nester, retiree - Woodridge has what you are looking for in
housing, recreation and convenient access to the resources of a major
metropolitan area. Woodridge has easy
access to several large forest preserves with a wide variety of ways to spend
your free time.
Convenient Location
Though they'll seem a world away, Woodridge
neighborhoods and open spaces are never more than a short car or train ride
from downtown Chicago. Whether you're headed to the city to work, take in a
museum, shop the Magnificent Mile, or dine out, express commute trains,
accessible by bus in neighboring Downers Grove, get you there in 28 minutes. A
network of major expressways - including three interchanges on Interstate 355 -
can put you downtown in about half an hour. These same roadways give Woodridge
residents convenient access to other nearby suburban shopping and business
districts. And, if you're destined for a more far-off location, easy access to
O'Hare, Midway and DuPage airports, all within a 30-minute drive, ensures a
quick start to your journey.
Excellent School System
You and your children will have access to
progressive, award-winning education in Woodridge - from preschool through
college. Woodridge School District 68, Naperville School District 203, and
Downers Grove South Districts 58 and 66 serve elementary students. The North
Central Association accredits all seven schools in Woodridge District 68. Only
5 percent of Illinois elementary and junior high schools receive this
distinguished accreditation. Some of the special initiatives available to your
children at the elementary school level include
An
early reading program for first grade students
An accelerated math program for grades 4 through 8
A pull-out gifted program in math science and the humanities
A junior high foreign language program
Your child's quality education will continue
at District 99's Downers Grove North and South High Schools, where both
students and faculty excel. Each year, well over 94 percent of District 99
students graduate, and hundred of students earn college credit in advance
placement course. Much of this success can be attributed to the District's highly
qualified faculty, over 80 percent whom possess master's degrees or higher.
Whether your child is going on to college or you are continuing your own
education, Woodridge residents can choose from a number of nearby accredited
institutions, including: College of DuPage, Benedictine University, North
Central College, I.I.T. West, Wheaton College and Lewis University.
Supporting the local school systems and
community at large is the Woodridge Public Library where a staff of
professional librarians oversee an extraordinary collection of books
periodicals, and audio and visual material, and provide a number of specialized
reference and research services. With resources such as these, you will want to
join the 75 percent of Woodridge residents who have library cards!
